In order to make real changes in our communities, it is not enough to win elections. When progressive candidates get elected, philanthropy must provide them the support they need to govern effectively with the communities that helped elect them. Philanthropy already invests in increasing civic engagement and advocacy on social issues such as improving healthcare, education, and building a strong and inclusive economy for everyone.
When a company’s brand is trusted, consumers are more likely to prove loyalty with purchases and advocacy. This earned trust and loyalty not only means more business, it also leaves room for forgiveness when a mistake it made. According to the 2024 Edelman Trust Barometer, Business as a sector is trusted more than philanthropy and nonprofits, government, or media. CCJFG is starting a new practice of spotlighting our partners in the movement to end policing, prisons, and criminalization. Our goal is to shine a light on grassroots organizations that may be lesser-known, but are instrumental in moving us towards an abolitionist vision of a more just and resourced world.
