Investing in the Long Arc of Justice: Post-Election Convening

The Long Arc of Justice

About

There are differing visions claiming a stake in our future this election cycle and it’s clear that the results will hold major social, political, economic, and spiritual implications. In California, we have numerous candidates and propositions on the ballot that will have material impact on marginalized communities. Regardless of the results, how can philanthropy invest in the long arc of justice?

Over the last several years, we’ve experienced a lot together. Through it all, grassroots community-based organizations continue to play a critical role in inspiring hope, providing direct services, and building social movements. They are increasing civic engagement while driving organizing and advocacy campaigns for transformative policy changes that better meet the needs of marginalized families, renters, workers, and young people. Philanthropy is privileged with a responsibility to resource the nonprofit ecosystem and collectively mobilize towards an equitable future and the long arc of justice. We have work to do and cannot afford to be immobilized regardless of who wins the national election.

This November, we invite foundation leaders, staff, and advisors to join NCG for an in-person, post-election convening. This is an opportunity to process and make sense of key electoral outcomes, learn from the movement leaders on the frontlines, hear analysis and reflections on what lies ahead, align around mutual interests, and actualize a robust shared vision. This is a conversation for everyone. No matter what your institutional interests and priorities are, your work intersects with what is at stake for our collective future.

Join us to:

  • Make connections and strengthen relationships with colleagues, movement groups and community partners;
  • Gain a better understanding of the political context in which the sector will operate in for the next few years;
  • Receive an overview of key wins, challenges, and setbacks from the perspectives of movement leaders working on-the-ground to strengthen democracy;
  • Renew hope and commitment to long-term vision and strategy for resourcing the nonprofit ecosystems that support transformative social movements
