Foundations effect greater change in the world when their funding decisions are shaped by the people and communities most harmed by inequities. While many funders agree with this notion, there is often a struggle to invest in systems change and to actualize community-centered funding. This session will discuss effective vs. extractive listening practices, provide a framework to implement power-sharing, and highlight lessons learned from regional grantmakers to evolve their practices.
NCG is pleased to announce the membership team is growing! Sarah Evers (they/them) joins as the new Member Engagement Coordinator supporting all things membership for the NCG community. Sarah has a background in both nonprofit and philanthropic sectors and worked most recently at Tides helping with Salesforce operations and improving processes.

That is why – during a time when the national conversation on solutions to harm is embroiled in heated debate – our guiding star continues to be organizing towards interventions that center safety outside of the carceral punishment system.
NCG has partnered with the National Center for Family Philanthropy (NCFP) to give members direct, free access to NCFP's monthly webinars for family giving. Additionally, NCG members also have free access to NCFP's extensive database of resources for philanthropic families that work with them in their online Knowledge Center.
