Over the past two years, we've partnered to provide learning opportunities to the philanthropy community across California to support further adoption of trust-based approaches in grantmaking. We recently lost a powerhouse in our field. Gwen Walden was the Senior Managing Director at Arabella Advisors' San Francisco office. She had a long history in our community and sector serving on the Boards of the East Bay Community Foundation, the Surdna Foundation, and the Breast Cancer Fund.

NCG is pleased to announce the membership team is growing! Sarah Evers (they/them) joins as the new Member Engagement Coordinator supporting all things membership for the NCG community. Sarah has a background in both nonprofit and philanthropic sectors and worked most recently at Tides helping with Salesforce operations and improving processes.
NCG is pleased to welcome a new member to its growing team! Semiyah Constantino (she/her) joins as the Digital Engagement Associate to help with all aspects of communications. Semiyah has experience leading publishing and design, rebranding, and most recently was a Digital Marketing Apprentice at COOP Careers advancing her digital skills.
In June & July, NCG and the UC Merced Community & Labor Center brought funders,
government, and leading community, work, and labor organizations dedicated to serving
farmworkers and rural communities across California together – both virtually and in the San
Joaquin Valley. These events cast a spotlight on the social and economic impacts of the 2023
floods, while also examining the persistent inequities that rural and farmworker communities
experience.
