In this session, we're focusing on how philanthropy has responded to the call to action for increased and sustainable investment in and support of Black-led organizing, Black-led organizations, and Black communities overall.
Communities of color were disproportionately impacted by the unprecedented events of 2020. They experienced greater chances of contracting and dying of covid-19, becoming unemployed, and were more likely to be physically and/or emotionally impacted by racist actions and systems. This called for unprecedented actions from philanthropy, and many rose to the call – disrupting business as usual and finding new ways to advance racial equity and social justice.
As the world shifts all around us, we will be exploring what philanthropies in our community are doing to drive change at all levels, with a call to help build more just and equitable systems.
