RISING LEADERS COHORT
NCG's Rising Leaders Cohort is a unique opportunity to focus on your leadership journey within philanthropy and build the skills that will take you to the next level.
Government entities are eligible for NCG membership. Government membership is non-transferrable and active for one calendar year. You may arrange to pay on a different fiscal year schedule. NCG is tax exempt under IRS section 501(c)(3). For purposes of completing form 990-PF, all dues in excess of $750 may be reported as a grant rather than as administrative expenses. Payment and documentation may be submitted following your application.
NCG’s sustainers recognize that philanthropy can and must do better. Our sustainers support and bolster NCG’s efforts to deliver programs and offerings that intentionally gather people, lift up effective practices that mobilize the field, and transform philanthropy as a whole to advance racial equity in our region. Additionally, this support gives NCG the opportunity to go deeper, explore new ideas, adapt when necessary, and to experiment with transformative approaches.
According to the Center for Disaster Philanthropy, philanthropy invests most of its dollars immediately following a disaster, when media attention is at its peak. However, less than 10% of our philanthropic dollars go toward reducing hazard risk and preparing our communities for disasters.
Philanthropy California (Philanthropy CA) is an initiative of Northern California Grantmakers (NCG), SoCal Grantmakers, and Catalyst of San Diego & Imperial Counties. Our combined membership represents more than 600 foundations, corporate funders, philanthropic individuals and families, giving circles, and government agencies investing billions every year to support communities across the state, the country, and worldwide. Each year, NCG's three annual events bring together thousands NCG members and partners from the sector and all over Northern California. As a potential sponsor, you can choose which type of sponsorship is best for you and your organization.
NCG's Racial Equity Action Institute centers racial equity with an intersectional framework that recognizes the ways race is shaped and informed by class, gender, sexuality, and ability. Learn more about the annual cohort and how to apply here.
