There are a number of tools available to facilitate this feedback loop and listening process. Join this webinar to learn how to listen with intention, gather feedback in a way that does not burden your nonprofit partners, share how you acted on feedback, and how to use tools that will provide insights into how you can improve your work.

While grantmaking is often the main tool funders think about in terms of impact, there are many other innovative ways to use your time, relationships, and resources to support your nonprofit partners and the communities you serve. Funders can leverage their established platform to spread the word about needed support and convene important partners, or can provide additional capacity to organizations beyond the check. Some look internally, and implement impact investing with the other 95% of their assets. And others support advocacy initiatives outside of their established grantmaking to shift the laws and policies that affect their work. This webinar will highlight different methods for providing support beyond grantmaking, and how to think through what can work for your philanthropy.

Our nonprofit ecosystem is the backbone of our philanthropic work and efforts to build thriving communities. We rely on nonprofits to drive solutions and carry the weight of justice. In turn, how can the philanthropic sector support our nonprofits in this time?

At this year’s Corporate Philanthropy Institute, we’ll explore what it means to create a new pathway and build new standards. We’ll highlight the pressures (both external and internal), offer context under which we’re doing our work today, share replicable strategies, provide tools for you to take back home to your company, and most importantly, offer space to be with others in the field wrestling with and seeking answers.

“We are the ones we have been waiting for” is true for almost everything we do in our fight for equity and justice here in the Bay Area and beyond. As we seek to dismantle some of the inequitable and short-sighted funding practices of philanthropy, the same sentiment is true. Many community leaders across Northern California have been calling for a system shift for decades. And now is the time to take action.

Reaching consensus is difficult, particularly during a decision-making moment that will have a real impact on your philanthropy. How do you have productive conversations during meetings and other decision points when there are relationship dynamics, conflict, or simply differences of opinion? How do you allow for individual viewpoints across generations, but ensure there is a framework in place to push the collective goals of the philanthropy forward? Are there tips to facilitate productive meetings, especially when there are complex family dynamics at play? Learn strategies to manage dynamics, build in moments for family connection, and facilitate group decision-making.

Through Northern California Grantmakers’ Racial Equity Action Institute (REAI), participants will gain knowledge, lessons, and tools for developing actionable strategies in their institutions to advance racial equity with field experts and each other. One sector on its own cannot solve the challenges of racial inequities. Our cohort learning program connects specialists in racial equity from philanthropy, business, government, and nonprofits. By deepening our relationships and the connectivity of those in our ecosystem who are committed to change and justice, so much is possible.
