Announcing Nicole Garzino as NCG's Senior Manager for Donor & Trustee Programs

NCG is pleased to share that our capacity to support donors and trustees is growing! Nicole Garzino (she/her) joins as the new Senior Manager for Donor & Trustee Programs. Nicole brings over twenty years of experience in nonprofit management, program creation, as well as strategic planning, and Board development.

Nicole joins the Strategic Initiatives team and will work closely with the CEO and leadership team to support best practices outlined in Get it Right: Five Shifts Philanthropy Must Make Toward an Equitable Region.

"We’ve been on a real journey to find the right person to lead our donor & trustee work and are very lucky to have found Nicole! She brings a wealth of direct experience working with the donor community and connecting with people who are new to philanthropy," said Steve Barton, Vice President of Strategic Initiatives. "With her on board, we’re positioned to expand the conversation about racial equity to an audience that can have an enormous impact on communities that have historically been marginalized."

Nicole began her nonprofit career in executive leadership positions in cultural organizations, including museums, theatres, and grantmaking arts councils. She found a passion for philanthropy and grantmaking through her work with arts councils and pivoted her career to lead funding organizations. Nicole recently served for almost 5 years as Director of Membership for Battery Powered, a San Francisco Bay Area donor collective and grantmaking foundation. During her tenure, the program raised over $20 million from its members for grants and social impact investment on issues of homelessness, mental health, addiction, gun safety, education, healthy democracy, and more. As a consultant and philanthropic coach, she has worked with grassroots nonprofits, foundations, and philanthropic families looking to grow their giving.

When not working or volunteering in the nonprofit sector, Nicole enjoys time with her children, ages 7-25, and getting offline by road tripping, exploring the great outdoors, and picking fresh fruit.
