As we look toward this year’s general election, the escalating negative political rhetoric is once again targeting the issues affecting people most marginalized in this country: transgender rights, reproductive autonomy, immigration, just to name a few. History has shown that these attacks are not new; they are a political ploy to stoke distrust and division during a critical election year while creating backlash against progressive wins. States and local jurisdictions across the country are passing bills to roll back progress on our civil liberties.

The LSFN Public Interest Law Bar Fellowship was designed in the Spring of 2020, early in the COVID-19 pandemic, to address the emergent capacity needs of Bay Area Legal Services Organizations as well as May 2020 graduates of Bay Area law schools, who were faced with a delay in their ability to take the California Bar Exam.

Join us for an in-person grant writing training that brings together community-based organizations, nonprofits, and Tribes in and around Salinas and the Monterey Bay Region to learn about pursuing grant funds to support your organization’s vision and values. An emphasis will be building organizational capacity to address climate resilience initiatives. Registration, coffee, and networking at 8:30 a.m., program starts at 9 a.m.
