The recently finalized “public charge” rule forces families to choose between basic necessities, such as food, housing, and health care, and their future. NCG is proud to join 25 other California foundations in signing a letter urging the entire philanthropic community in California to join us in our recommitment to creating the inclusive California we know is possible, and to support advocacy and direct services organizations fighting to create safe and thriving communities across our state in the face of this new “public charge” rule. Join us as we return to an in-person Annual Corporate Philanthropy Summit July 28, with an impactful and inspiring program, networking, and important connections made between for-profit and non-profit philanthropy leaders sharing ideas, trends, best practices, partnerships, and opportunities to work together in the business of doing good for our community.
Join Rise Economy and the California Community Land Trust Network for a funders-only virtual
briefing and conversation with foundation, public sector and community leaders on the
importance of corporate accountability in tackling the housing crisis. Presenters will share policy
strategies to address the capital gap by increasing banking sector investment in affordable
housing and BIPOC homeownership. Moderated by Dr. Manuel Pastor, funders will learn about
how these campaigns could generate significant resources and data to address the state's
affordable housing crisis, stabilize neighborhoods, and build climate resilience.
This program is presented through a partnership between Philanthropy California and the
California Office of Emergency Services and is funded by the Listos California Grant Program.
You can think of a grant budget as another way to describe a program and its activities.
Everything you have proposed to do in the program is represented somewhere in the budget,
and if an activity is missing from the budget, you need to ask why! Grant budgets also represent
partnerships, collaborations, and community involvement activities.
As 2023 comes to an end, we know that the stakes are high for our movement partners. With the ongoing reality of state violence, backlash from “tough-on-crime” political agendas, and reforms that would undo decades of organizing, California’s grassroots movements for liberation, justice, and safety are as crucial as ever. Now is the time for us to reflect on CCJFG’s contributions to the field of criminal justice philanthropy and recommit to our values of anti-oppression, intersectionality, and trusting the leadership of people directly impacted by criminal-legal systems.
