In partnership with AAPI for Civic Empowerment, OC Action and the Fresno Civic Engagement Table, AAF & Activate CA will host a two-part statewide briefing to provide funders with a roadmap heading into the 2024 election (and beyond) based on learnings and insights from Asian American and Pacific Islander community organizers that are at the forefront of mobilizing the AAPI electorate in California. 

NCG is thrilled to launch this two-part event series in partnership with Mother Jones. Part 1 will introduce funders to the role that nonprofit news outlets play in a healthy democracy. Part 2 will follow up with a deep dive into how specific communities are often vulnerable to strategic disinformation campaigns and what local journalism can do to address it.   

Stories of companies retreating from targeted programs, rebranding programs, changing messaging, or taking a “quiet action” approach due to fear of backlash abound in the field. While companies are working to meet the unique needs of communities with their philanthropic efforts, this fear is directly impacting corporate philanthropy and CSR efforts.

Traditional grant reporting often prioritizes compliance over impact, leaving little room for shared learning between funders and nonprofits. How can funders move beyond transactional reporting toward a more meaningful, equity-centered approach?

This session will explore the role of change management in shifting reporting practices. We’ll discuss the role of senior leadership, fostering cross-team collaboration, and centering nonprofit perspectives can help drive systemic change. Through real-world case studies and interactive discussion, participants will gain insights into the power of learning-driven reporting and leave with concrete strategies for advancing this shift within their organizations.

The National Center for Family Philanthropy (NCFP) and Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors (RPA) are pleased to announce a multi-session Learning and Action Cohort for family philanthropies and individual donors who are significantly scaling up their philanthropy. Once a foundation or other form of philanthropy reaches a certain size, more robust practices and approaches are required in order to maximize impact. This program will support and guide families and professional staff as they adopt the necessary organizational changes to support an influx of assets with peer learning, hands-on workshops, consultation, and expert guidance from others who have successfully maneuvered similar transitions.

Data has proven to be a vital ingredient in furthering racial and economic equity in the Bay Area. However, not all local organizations have the capacity to leverage data-driven insights and tools to drive solutions forward and achieve equitable outcomes.
