Are you willing to serve, collaborate and support others in advancing a collective vision? Then this is the opportunity for you!

ABOUT THE LATINO COMMUNITY FOUNDATION: LATINOS ARE A FORCE. The mission of the Latino Community Foundation (LCF) is to unleash the civic and economic power of Latinos in California and beyond.

We fulfill our mission by building a movement of civically engaged philanthropic leaders, investing in Latino-led organizations, and increasing civic and political participation by Latinos. Our work is driven by our core values. Among them is trust that community leaders who are closest to the issues are best suited to lead the necessary solutions to drive lasting change. We are committed to leading from a place of strength— highlighting the assets and diverse contributions of Latinos in California and beyond.

We are at a pivotal stage of growth with net assets increasing tenfold from 2019 to 2023. With a commitment to ensuring the long-term sustainability of the mission and support for the community LCF serves, LCF established an endowment in 2017, which has grown significantly. Since 2019, LCF’s annual revenue increased by an average of 43% and expenses, including grantmaking, increased by an average of 25%.  LCF continues to leverage its unique role as a grantmaker, convener, and advocate to activate a network of changemakers committed to increasing civic engagement and economic mobility for Latino youth and families. ABOUT THE POSITION:

The Latino Community Foundation (LCF) is actively expanding its operations. To support its accelerated growth, LCF is seeking an experienced Controller to join a dynamic team. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Controller will be responsible for oversight of accounting and finance reporting activities. The Controller will participate in presentations to the Board and board committees and will collaborate with the leadership team on strategic initiatives and financial reporting.

The Controller will lead the day-to-day finance operations and will have functional responsibility for accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, investment and nonprofit fund accounting.  LCF is transitioning its accounting functions from outsourced services to an in-house team and the Controller will play a key role in this process. The Controller will also ensure that LCF has the financial systems and procedures in place to support effective program implementation and conduct audits free of material misstatements and significant internal control deficiencies. The Controller will work closely with program leaders and their teams, not only to educate them regarding finance and accounting procedures but also to explore how the finance function can support program operations. In addition, they will partner with the CFO to automate financial software programs with a goal of improving efficiency across systems. The Controller will have one direct report and co-lead recruitment, training, and onboarding of new finance team members as LCF grows. They will foster a collaborative team environment and encourage professional development.  The individual will be responsible for the direct supervision, development and support of their team.

The successful candidate will have accounting experience in the nonprofit sector, experience in change management and process development, and be comfortable interacting in a collaborative team-based environment. LCF is a fast-paced work environment with high expectations for excellence and integrity. It is an organization grounded in values of love, joy, family, and change - not charity.
