Our upcoming meeting is designed to begin a conversation about bridging the connection between prison industrial complex abolition and violence prevention. We will be joined by Cuco Rodriguez, the Chief Equity and Program Office of Hope and Heal Fund, who will share their framework of racial equity, trauma healing, and violence prevention. We will discuss what tensions exist within our foundations regarding funding this work, as well as how to support interventions, alternatives and community safety and will work to break down the narrative that safety and prevention is in opposition to abolition.
