Communities of color were disproportionately impacted by the unprecedented events of 2020. They experienced greater chances of contracting and dying of covid-19, becoming unemployed, and were more likely to be physically and/or emotionally impacted by racist actions and systems. This called for unprecedented actions from philanthropy, and many rose to the call – disrupting business as usual and finding new ways to advance racial equity and social justice.
In order to advance the impact of philanthropy in northern California, we recognize the importance of listening to our members to understand the challenges and opportunities that they are facing in their work. Many of the ideas for our best briefings start from conversations or input from NCG members.
