BELLY OF THE BEAST.png This guide is designed to help you lead a discussion of Belly of the Beast, to engage more deeply with issues in the film, and to present options for further learning, discussion, and action. Belly of the Beast offers an entry point into conversations around reproductive justice, medical ethics, human rights, and the law. Today’s focus on institutional racism and the criminal justice system makes now an especially relevant time to engage in conversations about the systemic denial of the rights of people who are incarcerated.
On March 8, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 1 , which is perhaps the most comprehensive political reform proposal in a generation by our elected representatives. The “For the People Act” seeks to restore faith in our republican democracy as a genuinely representative system open to broad participation and protected from corruption and the outsized influence of special interest money. The provisions of the bill would make it easier for people to vote and strengthen campaign finance & ethics laws.
In 2017, Northern California Grantmakers (NCG) engaged with the membership of the Bay Area Health Funders Group (BAHFG) to refresh its purpose and structure to better support collaboration and the evolving needs of our members.

Emerging Practitioners in Philanthropy has put out a call for sessions to be included in their 2015 annual conference in New Orleans. Deadline to submit proposals is February 20th.
