To support philanthropy in the midterm elections, NCG committed to:
The magnitude of the current social context requires us to recalibrate and accelerate change. NCG works to engage with members so for philanthropy can make the most of its influence. You can engage with us in the following ways:
RISING LEADERS COHORT
NCG's Rising Leaders Cohort is a unique opportunity to focus on your leadership journey within philanthropy and build the skills that will take you to the next level.
As Californians, we know that our own well-being is tied to everyone else’s. California’s Immigrant Resilience Fund is making headlines demonstrating that we are standing together to make sure each and every one of us—native and newcomer—has resources to prevail through the outbreak. No one stands alone. We are one beloved community. Kathleen Kelly Janus, Senior Advisor to the Governor, and Daranee Petsod of Grantmakers Concerned with Immigrants and Refugees joined NCG’s Emily Katz to explain how the fund came to be, some surprising new supporters, and what it means to have a ‘Si Se Puede’ moment (Yes, We Can!)
Join Rise Economy and the California Community Land Trust Network for a funders-only virtual
briefing and conversation with foundation, public sector and community leaders on the
importance of corporate accountability in tackling the housing crisis. Presenters will share policy
strategies to address the capital gap by increasing banking sector investment in affordable
housing and BIPOC homeownership. Moderated by Dr. Manuel Pastor, funders will learn about
how these campaigns could generate significant resources and data to address the state's
affordable housing crisis, stabilize neighborhoods, and build climate resilience.
As we look ahead in 2021, it will be another difficult year for California’s older adults. Many of them are experiencing social isolation during shelter-in-place, are at high risk of contracting COVID-19, and have difficulties accessing in-home health care and support services. Many older adults will cope with anticipated wildfires and lingering smoke during Public Safety Power Shutoffs later this year.
It is with great sadness that NCG announces the passing of our dear friend and colleague, Jenny Chinn. Jenny joined the team 18 years ago and held the longest tenure of anyone ever to have worked at NCG. During that time, she became the backbone of the organization – a steady, cheerful source of support for everyone who got to work with her. Her official title was Senior Operations Manager, but we often referred to her as our office mom.
