By Zoe Rudman, Associate, Member Engagement, Northern California Grantmakers

Hello! Have we met yet? I’m Zoe, and I just started as the Member Engagement Associate at NCG last June. In the short time I’ve been here, we’ve grown our membership, both with new organizational members and new staff at some of our longstanding members. These past few months have been a fun whirlwind of making as many professional and personal connections as I can, which is (in my opinion) one of the best opportunities NCG offers – the chance to be part of the largest philanthropic community in the region.

I don’t know about you, but this is my first job in the field of philanthropy. It can be overwhelming when you don’t know many people, or much about the way things work. NCG provides the perfect table to come together, learn and connect with others working in philanthropy in the Bay Area. While we offer some great professional development opportunities for those new to the field, such as our New Grantmakers Institute, sometimes you just want to have some wine and cheese and chat with new peers.

Whether your organization was one of the 32 new members that joined NCG in 2017, or you just got a new job at an organization that’s been raving about NCG but don’t know what we’re all about, come by our office (and if you’re not new, that’s ok too – we still want to hang out with you!). Our next signature event, Together for Good | NCG's 2018 Annual Conference is on April 16th. You can meet NCG staff and other new members like yourself. So while being new can be overwhelming at first, know that you’re now part of the NCG community. We’d love to meet you!

Contact me to hear more about the conference, how else to get involved with NCG, or about other upcoming events at zrudman@ncg.org.
