Visualize This! A Real-Time Map of Who’s Giving What & Where in California

Monday, February 8, 2016

Admittedly, BIG DATA feels a bit intimidating. Where to start? What to do with it? How do you know if you can trust it?

NCG partnered with the Foundation Center and our regional friends in LA and San Diego to create an interactive map on giving in the state of California. Foundation Maps | California gives NCG members access to real-time giving data on how many dollars are going where, for what and by whom. Learn more about the map.

Shhh, the beta version just arrived to our web site exclusively for NCG members. Right now! As you read this!

To try it out, we asked the map,,,

Question:How many grants in California, focus on human rights?”

After some fiddling around, we got the answer:

Answer: There are currently 8,906 grants for human rights in California totaling over $825 Million!
