NCG Member Sandra Hernández, M.D., CEO of the San Francisco Foundation, has announced that she will be stepping down from her position at the Foundation.
Yesterday the Foundation released a personal message from Sandra:
Leading an organization of this size and caliber for 16 years has been an absolute dream. That is why I wanted to share with you, our friends, supporters, and Bay Area community, a personal message about an important juncture in my career. After deep, personal reflection, I have decided to step down from my position as CEO of The San Francisco Foundation…
As a physician committed to ensuring all have access to a high-quality and equitable health care system, this point in time is truly historic. In two months, many of the most important provisions of the federal Affordable Care Act (ACA) will go into effect in California. After careful consideration, I have decided to go back to health care full time and take on a leadership position as President and CEO of the California HealthCare Foundation, whose mission is to “fulfill the promise of better healthcare for all Californians.”
We at NCG congratulate Sandra on her 16 years as CEO of the San Francisco Foundation and look forward to working with her in this new capacity.
