It’s hard to believe that in just a few years, Ellen and the NCG team have transformed the organization into what it is today. With over twice as many staff and a budget that’s almost four times the size, NCG is a force to be reckoned with.
It’s under Ellen’s leadership that NCG has shifted from a simple membership organization to a thriving community driven by values, relationships, and well, love. We’ve made some significant accomplishments including launching Philanthropy California, the first ever state-wide partnership between California’s regional philanthropic associations, to build and sustain thriving and equitable communities. In fact, Ellen has centered equity in all of NCG’s work both within the institution and with our community. Most importantly, through trust, support, and laughter (and the occasional Krispy Kreme donut), Ellen has built a team poised for the work ahead, and it’s exhilarating to consider the opportunities in front of us.
NCG’s next CEO will have the rare gift of solid and deeply committed staff, strong financial and administrative infrastructure, a cohesive and thoughtful community of members and stakeholders, and an engaged board that is committed to their success. With a search process steeped in NCG’s values of equity and community there is no doubt that our next CEO will have what’s needed to effectively connect ideas and resources, and ultimately contribute to a thriving Northern California and beyond.
We know it won’t always be easy, but we’ll get it done because we’re in it together and together for good!
