Philanthropy California Testifies Before Senate and Assembly Joint Hearing on the 2020 Census

Thursday, August 30, 2018

On August 13, the Senate and Assembly Select Committee on the 2020 Census, along with the Assembly Select Committee on the Non-Profit Sector, convened for a joint informational hearing on the 2020 Census.

The hearing included representatives from local government, statewide community leaders and the philanthropic sector. Nancy Jamison, President & CEO of San Diego Grantmakers, testified on behalf of Philanthropy California. Nancy was joined by members Efrain Escobedo of the California Community Foundation and Maricela Rodriguez of The California Endowment. All three joined forces to share their particular roles and investments in making sure that all Californians are counted.

NCG’s participation in shaping this hearing reflects an investment of relationship-building with our state leaders over the last two years through our Philanthropy in the State Capitol days. Such opportunities to bring leaders in philanthropy and in state government together have helped NCG and Philanthropy California to have a stronger presence in Sacramento and for policymakers to tap into philanthropy’s intellectual capital.
