It’s official: 2015 is the worst recorded fire season in history. Wildfires are still raging across California’s drought-parched hills, with thousands displaced and hundreds facing catastrophic losses and the Herculean task of rebuilding.
Those of us with Northern California connections are hearing personal stories of displacement, asthma induced by the smoke haze, and loss. NCG has received inquiries from our member community about where to contribute.
We’ve looked into ways to help.
- United Way of Wine Country Relief Fund: All donations through September 30th will go to United Way Relief Fund to help those affected by the devastating fires and their aftermath in Lake County.
- North Coast Opportunities: This nonprofit organization serving Lake and Mendocino Counties is accepting monetary donations online.
- Redwood Credit Union
- California Teachers Association
Below are resources to find donation centers, volunteer opportunities and information to recommend grant distribution for Donor Advised Funds.
We’re happy to share additional resources. Please email Emily Katz at ekatz@ncg.org to let us know if there’s one you’d like to add.
