O2 Initiatives Invites Applications for the O2 Sabbatical Award

The annual O2 Sabbatical Award honors the commitment and accomplishments of exceptional nonprofit executive directors in San Francisco, Alameda, and Contra Costa Counties. 

O2 Initiatives supports those who have tirelessly dedicated their lives to igniting positive change. Now in our fifth year, we continue to be amazed and inspired by the power of sabbaticals to recharge high-performing executive directors and advance leadership capacity throughout their organizations. The result is stronger leaders, smarter teams, and more resilient organizations.

O2 Initiatives will grant up to six awards in this 2018-2019 selection cycle. Each award will include $40,000 to the awardee's organization toward the cost of a three-month sabbatical, plus a $3,000 stipend for the interim leader (or team) in recognition of the additional responsibilities they will assume in the executive director's absence.

O2 Initiatives will provide each organization with up to 15 hours of coaching in partnership with CompassPoint Nonprofit Services to help prepare for the sabbatical, assist the interim leadership team during the executive director's absence, and support executive re-entry and organizational learning once the sabbatical is completed. Awardees will also be invited to request up to $7,500 for further staff professional development activities.

In addition, awardees will join a distinguished peer network of O2 Sabbatical Award alumni who are collectively strengthening our communities and shaping the nonprofit sector.
