On behalf of the Trustees and Staff at the Mimi and Peter Haas Fund, I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Jennifer Curran to the position of Program Director. Please see the announcement below. I hope that you will join us in welcoming Jennifer to her new position. All of us at the Fund look forward to the work we do as partners for the benefit of the children and families of San Francisco.

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Jennifer Curran as the new Program Director of the Mimi and Peter Haas Fund. Jennifer will assume the position to serve the San Francisco early childhood care and education community as well as the community-at-large.
The Mimi and Peter Haas Fund is an innovative family foundation with a deep commitment to early childhood issues – particularly the needs of low income children and their families in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Mimi and Peter Haas Fund supports activities that provide San Francisco’s young low-income children and their families with access to high quality early childhood programs that are part of a comprehensive, coordinated system. The Fund recognizes the importance of connecting the work of its early childhood direct service grants to improvements in public policy, and seeks specific opportunities to share and collaborate with other nonprofit and public organizations. The Fund also supports trustee-initiated grantmaking to arts, education, public affairs and health and human services organizations.
“We are delighted to have Jennifer join the Fund. She comes to us after working for Jumpstart for Young Children for the past 12 years. She is a wonderful addition to our team, and we believe she will carry out the Fund’s grant making and partnership work in a manner that will continue to maximize impact, promote innovation and provide leadership in the field,” said Mimi Haas, the President of the Fund’s Board of Trustees.
Jennifer has many years’ experience working as an early childhood educator in the areas of early literacy, program implementation and management, staff training at a local, regional and national level, and fundraising. Jennifer began her career as the site manager of San Francisco State University students who served as early childhood mentors in community-based preschools, in Head Start classrooms, and in preschool classrooms within the San Francisco Unified School District. She has also worked at a national level as Jumpstart’s National Director of Programs, and most recently as Deputy Director for Jumpstart on the regional level.
Jennifer holds an undergraduate degree in Child and Adolescent Development from San Francisco State University and a graduate degree from Mills College in Education, with an emphasis in Leadership in Early Care and Education. She lives in Orinda with her husband and two young children. Jennifer assumes the position of Program Director on 12 September 2016.
