The joint Boards of Directors of AIDS Emergency Fund (AEF) and Breast Cancer Emergency Fund (BCEF) have announced the appointment of NCG Board Member Sandra Y. Nathan as Executive Director. Sandra will begin in early September and is replacing long-time Executive Director Mike Smith whose retirement was announced in January.
“Sandra has the strategic vision and leadership skills to build on the tremendous success we accomplished under Mike,” said AEF Board Chair Scott Williams and BCEF Board Chair Heather Vučetin. “We are confident that she will expand both our grant and donor support for AEF and BCEF, so that both organizations will continue to fulfill their missions.”
Sandra joins AEF and BCEF after three years of executive leadership as Vice President of Grants and Loans at the Marin Community Foundation, based in Novato, California. In that role, she oversaw grant-making for the Buck Trust, whose mission is to ensure equity of opportunity for all Marin residents. Sandra also had a previous philanthropic position as President and CEO of the Richmond Children’s Foundation, now the Richmond Community Foundation.
“I bring a deep commitment to increasing the role of philanthropy, a passion for collaborative leadership, and an understanding of how critical it is to secure the support and engagement of all sectors so that those living with chronic, life-threatening illnesses such as HIV/AIDS and breast cancer have the safety-net support they need,” said Sandra Nathan.
Help us congratulate Sandra in her new position!
