Daniel Lau heads across town this month to join the staff of The Libra Foundation as the first initiative officer for the new Democracy Frontlines Fund where he is charged with investing in Black communities to build power and self-determination.
At Northern California Grantmakers, Daniel established a new youth organizing funder collaborative, giving away $750K in grants its first year. He also helped create two new cohort-based institutes: the Rising Leaders Cohort and the Racial Equity Action Institute, whose alumni groups are still running strong, despite the challenges of the pandemic.
He says his proudest moment came in helping orchestrate an NCG delegation to Alabama’s National Memorial for Peace and Justice. “It was a life-changing experience in my own equity journey that shaped my time at NCG. It demonstrated the organization's commitment to dive deep into racial equity and allowed me to hone my project management skills,” recalls Daniel.
