Melissa Nop Moves towards Greater Relationship with Community
Sharing immense gratitude as we thank Melissa Nop for her time serving as NCG’s Manager of Equity and Practice. We’re excited to share that Mel is continuing to support the sector as Walter & Elise Haas Fund’s new Relationship Manager.
Mel shared that during her time at NCG, she developed a deeper understanding of the importance of learning alongside one another. “Community, community, community! The philanthropic community will continue to grow and change and I found it essential to remember the importance of moving with integrity as we build strength together and push the sector.”
We’re excited to continue the relationship-building Mel drove through NCG’s membership. “Melissa’s ability to build authentic relationships and foster deep member engagement has been a true asset to NCG,” shared Kate Seely, NCG’s Senior Director of Leadership, Culture, and Community. “Her steadfast commitment to equity-centered programming and supporting people in making real change impacted the NCG community deeply.”
When asked what they learned in their time at NCG, Mel shared, “I was lucky to directly see how others in the sector are centering movement leaders and voices. I am hopeful that this will continue to grow and support long-lasting change for our communities.”
A Call for Immediate Philanthropic Action to Fund Frontline Climate Organizations in California
The federal government is continuing to divest and deregulate climate and environmental justice initiatives. Philanthropic and statewide government funders have a critical role in deepening its investment in resilience ensuring frontline communities are able to withstand the impacts of a changing climate with steadfast environmental justice funding.
