NCG Member Give2Asia's President and CEO Birger Stamperdahl, spoke in a panel discussion at the World Affairs Council event, Rebuilding Nepal. Stamperdahl along with Founder and CEO of Build Change Elizabeth Hausler, and Vice President of the American Himalayan Foundation Norbu Tenzing, examine how NGO's and other organizations are addressing aftermath of the Nepal earthquakes. David D. Arnold, President of the Asia Foundation, moderated asking realistic questions concerning physical resonstruction, provisions of necessary services, Nepalese government earthquake preparedness and lessons to be learned.
"There is a huge amount of need in the recovery, not just in the relief," said Stamperdahl. "It's an area that I think gets overlooked in the process of responding to these disasters. I would encourage donors who have the ability to sort of hold on and wait, make some intelligent decisions about funding programs a little bit later on when the recovery process happens. I think if they have the ability to do that, I would encourage it."
