Get Your California Policy Fix: Statewide Webinar on School Funding

Friday, November 21, 2014

Are you a self-identified policy wonk? Well, good news! NCG is once again partnering with SCG, SDG and CalNonprofits to present a statewide public policy webinar.

Earlier this year NCG co-presented California Policy Forum webinars on both the implications of regulating nonprofit overhead and the Affordable Care Act. This December we close out the year with a webinar focused on the Local Control Funding Formula.

The Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) is a change to California’s funding system for K-12 schools. It is the central feature of Assembly Bill 97 and its implementation affects every California school district and all charter schools. One goal of the law is to improve academic outcomes by providing more money to school districts that serve high-need students. Another goal is to give school districts more authority to decide how to spend education dollars, and hold them accountable for getting results.

At the December 16th California Policy Forum Webinar: Local Control Funding Formula Implementation Updates and Opportunities participants will learn about the state-wide implementation of the LCFF and review the Student Need Index. The webinar will also focus on opportunities for funder involvement to ensure LCFF dollars are spent on the students they were intended to serve.
