As many of our members know, Northern California Grantmakers is one of many grantmaker associations operating in the U.S. And while there are certainly national trends we explore through our programming, each grantmaker association taps into the local grantmaker zeitgeist to offer nuanced member experiences.
Naturally, NCG and our many sister organizations recognize the power of working together and we connect with one another under the Forum of Regional Grantmakers (the Forum), a membership association for grantmaker associations. Under the Forum, NCG partners with other regional associations for programming (i.e. Glasspockets Webinar Series) and collaborates to share information and expertise (i.e. database and website upgrades).
Last week NCG staff attended the Forum’s annual conference. As part of the conference business the Forum elected Florida Philanthropic Network President & CEO David Biemesderfer as its new Board Chair. Here’s what David had to say about his new role guiding America’s Largest Philanthropy Network:
“I have been involved with the Forum Network in various capacities for nearly 20 years, starting with the 10 years I spent working at the Minnesota Council on Foundations, FPN’s colleague organization in Minneapolis. During that time I’ve witnessed many impressive and remarkable developments in the Forum Network. We’ve certainly grown in size, but more importantly we’ve moved from being a loose national coalition of separate philanthropic associations to being a much more cohesive and collaborative network, with the Forum organization as the hub.”
NCG congratulates David on his new leadership role within our network.
