Many around the state are closely watching the unfolding situation in Butte County, California and neighboring counties in Northern California. More than 180,000 people came under emergency evacuation orders late Sunday when officials feared that Oroville Dam's emergency spillway could fail and flood the area.

Evacuation orders remain in place, leading to continued displacement and sheltering of large numbers of people. The Sacramento Region Community Foundation has established the Sacramento Region Disaster Fund – Oroville Spillway Evacuee Relief to support immediate relief needs for evacuees impacted by the Oroville Spillway emergency. Donations will support on-the-ground relief such as shelter, bedding, food, clothing, supplies, transportation, or other needs that arise as a result of this unprecedented evacuations.

NCG will continue to be in touch with philanthropic partners and provide updates as new information becomes available.
