By Ellen LaPointe, President and CEO, Northern California Grantmakers
Last December Northern California Grantmakers unveiled a new brand for our organization. We designed it to embody the considerable collective energy of our members, and to convey the possibility that erupts when we join forces to take on tough challenges.
NCG has been steadily developing our capacity to marshal and amplify the remarkable energy and potential of our member community. Late last year we unveiled a newly-renovated and expanded, technology-enabled space designed to host programs, network meetings and other member-initiated convenings. It has proven to be a tremendous asset to our members; in just eight months we have welcomed nearly 1,000 people at gatherings in person, with hundreds more engaging via video conference.
We have also built a formidable team. Our staff are genuinely inspired by the work of our members, and committed to the change we are seeking to achieve in the world together. They have deep, real world experience, relationships and knowledge in the social sector, and they know how to deliver results. (It’s also a very fun bunch, but that is a topic for another blog post. :) )
This month we are delighted to welcome four new additions to our ranks. Maya Hart and Zoe Rudman are joining our Member Engagement team, and will support the diverse efforts of that group. Alice Cabrera Bryant is our new Director of Finance and Operations, attending to the internal systems and frameworks that enable us to do our best work every day. And Cecilia Chen is NCG’s new Manager of Public Policy, charged with executing a statewide and local policy strategy with our members and our Philanthropy California partners at Southern California Grantmakers and San Diego Grantmakers. You will be hearing much more about our policy efforts in the coming months.
I invite you to take a moment to meet our new team members the next time you find yourself at the NCG offices. Stay tuned for next week's announcement of our July Open House!
All of us are inspired by the deep work you are engaged in, fueled by the urgent challenges we are confronting, and delighted to be partnering with you to come together, figure out what needs to be done, and do it. We truly are very good together, and of course, Together for Good.
