Northern California Grantmakers is pleased to announce that Jeff Malloy has been elected Chair of the Board of Directors. He takes the reins this week.
Chief Operating Officer and Treasurer of the Heising-Simons Foundation, Jeff brings a dynamic leadership style honed through years of philanthropic service, including at The James Irvine Foundation.
“NCG serves as the nexus of critical partners working on the complex social issues that characterize our diverse region, particularly given the current political climate. Never has the opportunity for sharing knowledge, strategies, tactics, and passion been more important. The stakes are high and I’m thrilled to champion the choices we make together that will define our community and cultural legacy” reflected Jeff.
Jeff's leadership will guide NCG through three strategic areas:
VALUES – Equity and Social Justice
Advancing equity and address social, economic and racial justice in the philanthropic community.
Creating opportunities to learn together, leverage our strengths, and celebrate and support one another.
REGION – Regional Vibrancy and Sustainability
Preserving and sustaining the vital fabric and character of our region.
Over the past two years Jeff has also served as an NCG envoy to a steering committee that has been working to create a strategic alliance among the state’s three regional associations (NCG, Southern California Grantmakers and San Diego Grantmakers). Under the banner Philanthropy CA, the three organizations are now collaborating on joint programming, policy advocacy and operational efficiency. “This is an exciting development for California, and for philanthropy in general,” remarked Jeff. “Philanthropy CA is poised to become a powerful force for change on issues that affect us all.”
“I am delighted that Jeff has agreed to play such a key role for NCG at this critical moment,” remarked NCG President and CEO Ellen LaPointe. “He is a gifted leader, a bold collaborator, and – on top of it all – a lovely guy.
“In the coming months we will all be called upon to play a critical and bold leadership role as we seek to preserve the advances we have made to support healthy, thriving, and just communities, and push for more progress. NCG is entering 2017 stronger than ever, with new assets, new partnerships, and a burgeoning, extraordinary community of deeply committed members. I look forward to partnering with Jeff as we dive deeply into the work at hand. The NCG community will be well-served by his leadership.”
