NCG member O2 Initiatives is launching their annual O2 Sabbatical Awards. The O2 Sabbatical Award honors the commitment and accomplishments of exceptional nonprofit executive directors in San Francisco and Alameda Counties. The work of these dedicated leaders makes the Bay Area the place we all want to live. O2 Initiatives is supporting them with the rare gift of time, so that they can continue in their work of creative problem-solving, culture-building, and change-making for the Bay Area.
As funders, NCG members can nominate their grantees Executive Directors who they believe deserve this opportunity.
Through a three-month paid sabbatical, recipients of the O2 Sabbatical Award not only have the chance to re-energize, but also strengthen the leadership bench in their organizations. In addition, awardees will become part of a long-lasting network of program alumni collectively shaping the sector.
O2 Initiatives will grant up to six awards in this second cycle of the program. Each award will include $40,000 to the awardee's organization toward the cost of a three-month sabbatical, plus a $3,000 stipend for the interim leader (or leadership team) in recognition of the additional responsibilities they will assume in the executive director's absence.
Each organization will be provided with up to 15 hours of coaching to help prepare for the sabbatical, assist the interim team during the executive director's leave, and provide support with re-entry once the sabbatical is completed.
In addition, awardees will be invited to request up to $7,500 in support of staff professional development within their organizations.
