Corporate Relations Business Operations is accountable for creating customer-centric solutions that bridge Corporate Relations strategy and execution through operations, business support, and compliance.  

About the Role:

The Director of Giving Operations is responsible for setting strategy and leading an operations team that is specifically focused on: 

  • Grants Management 

  • Employee Giving Operations 

  • Foundation Operations Support 

  • Non-Monetary Donation Operations 

  • Giving Reporting, Analytics, and Measurement 

  • Grantee Experience 

  • Giving Training and Compliance  

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Setting strategy, vision, and priorities for the Giving Operations team, as well as the broader Business Operations function. 

  • Frontline people manager of the Giving Operations team

  • As a member of the Business Operations Leadership Team, accountable for independently leading large scale and cross-functional Corporate Relations projects and workstreams

  • Serve as a strategic operations advisor to the Head of the Citizenship and Engagement function and their extended leadership team  

  • Lead initiatives to improve the end-to-end grantee experience, with a focus on ensuring that our processes and operations drive equity and are grounded in grantee centricity

  • Manage analytics and impact measurement associated with the overall giving portfolio

  • In partnership with Genentech Foundation staff, develop and manage foundation operations, including due diligence, grantee experience, budget planning, and grants management. 

  • Continually evaluate, prioritize, and enhance existing processes and systems to drive improvements, efficiencies, and compliance risk mitigation

  • Develop customer centric trainings and resources for internal stakeholders and external partners on giving program 

  • Manage giving compliance  / due diligence initiatives by overseeing audits, developing risk mitigation processes, and serving as an internal resources for colleagues and stakeholders on giving compliance 

  • Giving budget management / forecasting to support financial stewardship 

  • Contribute to a team culture of innovation, enterprise-level thinking, collaboration, and impact

 Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. 

  • 8 or more years relevant experience, specifically in operations, compliance operations, grants management, or employee giving/match program management required. 

    • Experience working in corporate philanthropy or a private foundation preferred. 

  • 2 or more years people management experience required 

  • Proven track record at leading large change management projects, including project management, policy development, communication/training planning, and vendor management

  • Expert knowledge (or a demonstrated aptitude to learn) healthcare compliance, charitable giving / grants due diligence, and the rules related to private foundations

  • Extensive experience developing metrics and analytical insights

  • High-level proficiency in Google applications (gCal, gDoc, gSlides, etc) and Salesforce  required

  • Business travel for internal and external meetings as required
