Breakout Session: Centering Healing and Wellness in Youth Organizing

Be a part of the movement! Join us for Taking Action: Youth + Mental Health, a breakout session during NCG’s Annual Conference the that will dive into the critical role that youth mental health plays in the path to justice in our region, nation and world.

In its second phase of grantmaking, The Youth Power Fund, a Northern California funding collective, has prioritized funding work that centers on youth healing and wellness. Youth mental health was already reaching problematic levels before the pandemic began, and two years into this crisis, rates of anxiety and depression have only increased in California youth especially BIPOC youth—with no end to this trauma in sight. We cannot strategize our way out of these challenges. It is time to act by uplifting and supporting this new generation of rising youth organizers.

Impacted youth have been leading our communities in building resilient movements; we will hear directly from them in this session. As they share their experiences, you'll learn why centering healing and wellness in youth organizing is a pathway towards transforming communities and systems to create a world they want to live in.
