How will nonprofits deliver direct services in our local communities if they can no longer afford the space to do it in? Many of us are wondering how nonprofits are coping with rising competition for commercial real estate and the size of the threat to all kinds of services from food banks to social services to the arts.

We’re tallying survey results of 500 nonprofits from around the Bay Area to find out more about whether the organizations that foundations have supported all these years will be around to serve the communities relying on them in the years to come. Join one or more of three upcoming briefings to hear the latest data on what’s happening and to talk about what can be done.

This survey provides data about what’s happening with nonprofit commercial space in the six counties of Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Santa Clara, San Francisco, and San Mateo.

Presenters

Richard Vezina is a Director at Harder+Company Community Research, where he plays a dual role leading client engagements and overseeing the firm’s communications and business development efforts. With 15 years of experience in the social sector, he is a seasoned public health and organizational management professional with wide ranging research, consulting, and development experience. Prior to joining Harder+Company in 2011, Richard worked in a wide variety of roles for organizations addressing such issues as HIV prevention, housing, and the arts. He earned his Master of Public Health degree from the University of California Berkeley.

 

 Jacquie Anderson is a Senior Research Associate at Harder+Company Community Research. She brings more than 15 years of program evaluation experience to her work evaluating initiatives designed to end homelessness, improve outcomes for low-income families, reduce recidivism, and strengthen health and mental health services. Much of her work has focused on systems change initiatives designed to integrate and align public agencies and nonprofit providers serving vulnerable populations. Prior to joining Harder+Company in 2015, she was the Senior Program Manager for Research and Evaluation at the Corporation for Supportive Housing. She holds a Master of Public Policy degree from the University of Michigan.
