The philanthropic sector is undergoing tremendous change and we are seeing the impact on nonprofit organizations across California: an increased demand for nonprofit services at a time of diminished government support and heightened dependence on philanthropic support. Many nonprofit organizations lack the resources that are critical to maintaining financial health and flexibility. Organizations with facilities are facing depreciating assets indicating a need for significant reinvestment. There is clear need to develop stronger boards, new business models, and outcomes-based strategies.

How can grantmakers respond?

Recently, many grantmakers have begun exploring an approach based on real cost funding.  NCG is proud to be a part of the Real Cost Project, a statewide initiative to explore what it takes for funders to develop new grantmaking strategies based on what it really costs to deliver outcomes.

On June 9th and 10th, NCG will be hosting Regional Forums with some of the leading grantmakers, experts and advocates in the field for a dynamic discussion about how grantmakers can improve outcomes through a real cost funding approach and what it will take to make these changes.

Join us to hear from fellow grantmakers who are working to make these changes in their funding practices, from experts who will walk you through the emerging statewide trends, and from nonprofit leaders about the full cost of delivering on their missions. You will also have the opportunity to engage directly with your fellow grantmakers to collectively identify some of the organizational barriers and challenges that might limit and, in some cases, prevent the adoption of real cost funding.
