Join us for a moving, illuminating and powerful kick-off to philanthropy’s newest affinity group: Parents in Philanthropy.
PiP started when a few moms kept running into each other at philanthropy events and realized that while we shared a lot of the same values, visions and challenges in our work, there were few places to talk and be “real” about the juggling act required to support both social change and little changemakers.
This kick-off event, appropriately, starts at the very beginning: at birth. In the U.S. today, 1 in 4 moms have no choice but to return to work just two weeks after the birth of a child. 87% of parents have no access to paid leave through their employers. Many parents are having to choose between leaving their baby before they are ready, and making ends meet.
Join Katie Bethell, founder of PL+US, to hear her share her efforts to change current policy on paid family leave. And, while doing so, telling a different kind of story —one that values families, and that reflects the diverse communities we come from and support.
