How has your organization explicitly infused equity into its mission, values and grantmaking? What steps have you taken to make sure equity is present in your work? And, how does applying an equity lens to your grantmaking practices allow you to be more responsive to your grantees and the community in which you work?
Join Padmini Parthasarathy, program director at California Wellness Foundation, as she highlights the foundation’s journey to explicitly infuse equity into their work and how, as a result, they are better able to reach those in the most need – even in times of political, social or funding uncertainty. Bring your examples and questions to this dynamic discussion.
The California Wellness Foundation launched the Advancing Wellness grants program in 2014 as a result of a strategic planning process. This grantmaking philosophy builds on the foundation’s historically deep commitment to health equity. Although always implicitly intertwined in the foundation’s work, mission and values, this explicit infusion of equity, grounded in research on the social determinants of health, allows foundation staff and board to collectively respond faster to community requests and maintain focus on underserved communities.
