The impact of the COVID-19 outbreak is far reaching, including major implications for non-profits and the communities that they serve. Philanthropy has an important role to play in supporting their non-profit partners during this challenging time in which there will be an increase in demand for their services.
Beginning on Monday, March 16th, NCG will host a funders coordination meeting (via Zoom) every Monday from 11:00 am - 12:00 noon. During these calls, participants will hear from other local funders on what they see their role is and share about specific needs they are hearing about in the community. This will be followed by a discussion for all participants about how they can coordinate their strategies and funding in response to the pandemic, whether it be through supporting the social safety net, building nonprofit resiliency, coordinating cross-sector collaboration, and grantmaking strategies.
The call on March 23, 2020 will focus on the need to shore up our social safety net. Participants will hear broadly of the emerging challenges experienced by social safety net providers, including perspectives from community health, food banks, housing, and legal services.
