Please join NCG for our next regional working group meeting related to the 2020 Census. Many sectors from philanthropy to government are mobilizing to ensure a fair and accurate Census count.
At this meeting, we will provide an update about the U.S. Supreme Court Citizenship Question decision and its implication for census outreach efforts. We will also discuss:
-
RFP Update: We received a staggering 168 applications totaling $9.5 million in requested funds for census outreach and education activities from community-based organizations across the nine Bay Area counties. Representatives from the collaborative will provide an update on the decision-making for grant awards.
-
Gap Analysis & Opportunities for Further Investment: Despite significant investment from philanthropy, local governments, and the State of California, there is a substantial gap between the funds needed to support on-the-ground outreach and dollars allocated. We will provide an analysis of these gaps and opportunities for funders to provide new or additional investments.
-
Regional Evaluation: We will present our evaluation plans to support the knowledge and learning of our collaborative efforts.
We will be be joined by Kathleen Kelly Janus, the newly appointed senior advisor on social innovation in the Office of Governor Newsom. She will share ideas with you on how her role can leverage and connect your expertise and resources across multiple sectors to ensure a complete and accurate count.
