Oftentimes we can best learn from the experiences of others. NCG has developed several case studies of public policy grantmaking by its members in Northern California. The case studies are brief and structured to highlight the public policy grantmaking strategy used, outcomes, the foundation's theory of change, and lessons learned. Although we have identified a primary strategy used in each case, public policy grantmaking projects often include a number of different strategies.

NCG will continue to produce new local case studies. Please check back to this page for new examples of local public policy grantmaking. To share an example of your foundation's public policy grantmaking, please contact NCG staff.

Listed on the next pages are more examples of public policy grantmaking. These case studies are organized by the engagement strategies that were identified on the How to Engage in Public Policy page.
