Guest Speaker Announced!
NCG is pleased to announce a keynote address by Rajendra S. Sisodia renowned co-author of Firms of Endearment. Mr. Sisodia, a professor of marketing and founding director of the Center for Marketing Technology at Bentley College, has published numerous articles in journals such as the Harvard Business Review, Journal of Marketing, Journal of Business Strategy, and the Journal of Business Research.
Sisodia's keynote will examine how companies that are driven by purpose and passion have proven to be the most profitable. He will explain how regardless of the economic conditions, companies that embrace philanthropy and Corporate Social Responsibility do better than those companies that only focus on the bottom line. His extensive empirical evidence gathered from numerous company surveys show that companies that are conscious of community issues and social issues tend to better perform. He will help attendees make the case for philanthropy at their respective organizations. (A copy of his book will be provided to each CPI attendee).
Program Information
Economic downturns are not a new phenomenon but the combination of instability in the housing and banking markets coupled with increasing prices for oil, food shortages, global conflicts, and environmental concerns has created a “perfect storm” of uncertainty throughout the world. Inevitably these forces will have some impact on businesses and in turn corporate philanthropy and citizenship efforts. How will these pressures impact corporate giving and philanthropy budgets?
This year's Corporate Philanthropy Institute will explore how the current economic conditions could impact corporate philanthropy and citizenship. We invite you to spend a day learning how companies that have experienced similar issues re-imagined their philanthropic programs; how volunteerism becomes an even more critical tool; what alternatives to traditional philanthropy are being implemented; and how communications becomes central to maintaining corporate reputation and community presence.
Come join us to:
- Learn approaches to increase community presence and effective grantmaking with limited resources;
- Hear from experienced corporate grantmakers who've experienced significant changes in their philanthropic programs and created new opportunities;
- Gain knowledge about new ways to support the community; and
- Explore communication strategies that maintain community support.
